5 things

I was tagged by the lovely and talented Leah for a meme which involves writing a post on “five things you do that help keep you mentally well”. So here goes…

1. Creating things – writing, painting, drawing… it all works.
2. Moving my body – when my body’s happy, my mind’s happy.
3. Connecting with other people – as an introvert, I have a tendency to keep to myself, but fighting this tendency and reaching out to others on a daily basis does wonders for my well-being.
4. Experiencing new things – too much routine drives me crazy. I like to do at least a little something new every day.
5. Being – I mean this as opposed to ‘doing’. Time for doing nothing is good every once in a while.

I’m supposed to end by tagging 5 others, but I’m not really sure that there are five people out there reading this blog, so I’ll just say… if you’re reading this and want to play along, consider yourself tagged. πŸ™‚

  1. as a fellow introvert, I hear you…happy to get to know you a little better and the self-portrait (?) is great! I’m doing 2009CE too so will be happy to keep on creating with you πŸ˜‰

  2. Love the portrait. Can I be one of your tagged people? Had a look at your other blog and am really looking forward to my trip now after seeing your pictures from over there. I am coming to Germany in July next year.
Looking forward to seeing your CED pictures for next year.

  3. I’m still reading. πŸ™‚

The first time I did AEDM, I ‘collected’ a couple of people, and started looking in on them from time to time. Methinks you’re one of the ones from this go-round! (although i’ve been remiss in my visiting – been in something of a blog-funk: too busy at work, tired, winter blahs – i’m working to get myself out.) (and connecting is certainly one of the ways i do it!) πŸ™‚

  4. Jul – Been a mess here at home, so I hadn’t been to see you. I love the self portrait. It’s inspired me to try another one, this time in acrylics, and more painterly, I hope. I control my paint more than I would like…

Was this done with those same pigments as the Tuscan Farm House exercise?

I like the meme, too, and I may do it.

  5. Linda – thanks! And looking forward to your company during CED 2009. πŸ™‚

Emma – consider yourself tagged! Where are you coming in Germany? It’s a fun place!

Deb – I’m honored to have been collected. πŸ™‚ I go through plenty of blog funks, too – sometimes I’m all over it, and sometimes I avoid the blog world for days or weeks at a time. I hope your winter blahs are dissipating!

Steve – yep, same pigments, same night. I intended to work on it more after I got it home, but so far haven’t gotten around to it. I have been playing around with pigments on other paintings, too, and I’m warming up to them. Might have to get more.
