This Art Every Day Month went by way too fast. I only got to play along for about half the month, since I was traveling a bunch. I just got back from Berlin and I don’t have much to show for myself today – I have several little paintings in progress, but nothing finished. So […]
Faroe Island village, 18 x 24 cm, oil on canvas board, ©2010 Julie Galante. [SOLD] Today I am dreaming of what it would be like to spend a month on sabbatical in the Faroe Islands, painting everything I see, people and places. I got a little frisky with the tip of the palette knife on this one. […]
It was cloudy, stormy, and rainy for most of our recent trip to the Faroe Islands, but I still managed to get some photos that will make for some good painting inspiration. This little (18 x 24 cm) oil sketch is of the buildings in the historical section of Tórshavn, the capital. Many of the […]
Whoops, where did I disappear to just then? I haven’t been very consistent for Art Every Day Month this year. I blame all the travel I have this month. Anyway, I’m back for a few days, and ready to paint. I’ve been playing around with acrylics on a few tiny (10 x 15 cm) canvases […]
Munich – Platzl, oil on canvas, 24 x 18 cm, ©2010 Julie Galante. I’ve gotten out of the habit of producing a daily painting. Perhaps I need to line up some photographs to work from so I’m always ready to go when I sit down at the easel. I think tomorrow I’ll move on to working […]
Munich Wienerplatz (in progress), oil on canvas, 60 x 70 cm, ©2010 Julie Galante. This one has been in progress for a while now. It’s a larger, more detailed version of a scene from one of my daily paintings. I haven’t quite figured out what it needs so I can call it finished. Ideas?
oil on canvas, 20 x 20 cm, ©2010 Julie Galante Thanks so much everyone who chimed in on yesterday’s painting. I really appreciate your input! It is pretty warm here in Munich for mid-November, and a lot of my balcony garden plants are still alive. Still, it was time to pull in the rest of […]
What do you think? Does this painting work better with a blue foreground, or a red one? Oil on canvas board, 18 x 24 cm. I’m open to other suggestions, too. Not really sure where I’m going with this one.
Munich: Boulangerie at Wienerplatz | 18 x 24 cm | oil on canvas | ©2010 Julie Galante | [SOLD] I just returned from an amazing trip to Copenhagen and the Faroe Islands, where I collected hundreds of photos of visual inspiration. Next task: sorting through them all! Plus I will be blogging up a storm […]
