AEDM day 25: more Faroes

Oil painting: Colorful Faroe Islands village
Faroe Island village, 18 x 24 cm, oil on canvas board, ©2010 Julie Galante. [SOLD]

Today I am dreaming of what it would be like to spend a month on sabbatical in the Faroe Islands, painting everything I see, people and places.

I got a little frisky with the tip of the palette knife on this one. I might go back and add something to it later, but I’m also pretty pleased with how it looks right now.

Happy Thanksgiving!

  1. Hi Julie, Cool paintings of the Faroes. I had to go look at the maps on line. The Faroes remind me of small town Norway…go figure, they’re not that far apart! The Faroes look like a fascinating place. I like your painting, colorful with simplified shapes. The buildings look old and weathered by the sea. Expressive!

  2. Here from ICLW 🙂 Your work is beautiful! I used to do oil painting more for catharsis than anything else. You’re very inspirational. Best wishes to you.

    Carino!

    ‘Tis wonderful.

I was intrigued to find that the Latin word COLLIS is related to the Germanic root Hill, etc., thru the parent language, Indo European.

    All the best, Jul
