Quick portrait: Scott at work

Scott at work, oil on panel, 30 x 40 cm

I usually paint portraits from photographs. This one, my first one in oils for a long time, was from life. My husband was working at the computer while I painted. He moved around more than I would have liked, so the resulting image is a little inconsistent. That’s why I like photos – they make such patient subjects. Still, I’m happy enough with this as the result of a couple hours at the easel.

  1. Wow, nice painting! Like the eyes especially. But I love your blog title… my muse could use a good beating! I have execution skills, no question, but I want for interesting ideas most of the time. Stupid muse ๐Ÿ˜‰

  2. Thanks, Henniemavis! And it’s nice to hear I’m not the only one who has to rough up the muse every once in a while. ๐Ÿ™‚

  3. Thanks, Cyndee. The paints started getting a little muddy towards the end of the session, but luckily not so much as to completely ruin things.
