I have loved making portraits for as long as I can remember. The human face is by far my favorite thing to depict in my drawing and painting.
Up until recently most of my portraits have been on commission. Then in 2011 I started on two new series of work, both dedicated to exploring a certain theme in portraiture. (I still take portrait commissions on occasion, too.)
My Women in Dirndls series is just that: women wearing their dirndls. I love that almost every woman you meet in Munich owns at least one of these traditional Bavarian dresses.
My Portraits with Modern Technology series plays with ideas from traditional European portraiture, searching for appropriate attributes for the modern age.
Both series should be finished and ready to go on display in Munich later in 2012.
